Partitions: sda1 full drive, sda5 (Gigabyte)
sda1 and sda5 (Dell)

Installation fails on base system install with the following error message:
/lib/partman/choose_partition/60partition_tree/do_option: line 88
then it states

I get the identical error on both machines and in all possible
configurations. The two copies
of netinst were full download of netinst and a daily obtained with jigdo
with good checksum.
The only thing in common between the machines is both have Intel
processors with Intel graphics
but the Dell is much later version.
