Package: installation-reports

Boot method: <How did you boot the installer? CD? floppy? network?>netinst via
DVD
Image version: <Full URL to image you downloaded is
best>debian-7.4.0_amd64-netinst.iso
Date: <Date and time of the install>9th March 2014 9pm

Machine: <Description of machine (eg, IBM Thinkpad R32)>Lenovo Thinkpad T540p
Processor:Intel Core i7-4800MQ
Memory:16Gb
Partitions: <df -Tl will do; the raw partition table is preferred>I just have
one hard drive and I selected all files in one partition.

Output of lspci -knn (or lspci -nn):

Base System Installation Checklist:
[O] = OK, [E] = Error (please elaborate below), [ ] = didn't try it

Initial boot: [ ]
Detect network card: [ ]
Configure network: [ ]
Detect CD: [ ]
Load installer modules: [ ]
Detect hard drives: [ ]
Partition hard drives: [ ]
Install base system: [ ]
Clock/timezone setup: [ ]
User/password setup: [ ]
Install tasks: [ ]
Install boot loader: [ ]
Overall install: [ ]

Comments/Problems: The install ran correctly thru to the end, then went to boot
the system and it doesn't boot. It displays the ThinkPad screen that says
"ThinkPad - To interrupt normal startup, press ENTER". Pressing enter does
nothing, the screen seems to be frozen. There's no other menu or the grub so I
don't know how to even get to any type of prompt to access the system and go
into rescue mode. I even tried to boot with the install DVD in the drive, and
it does the same, only displays the ThinkPad screen and then hangs. My laptop
is brand new it had Windows 7 Pro installed on it and I wiped that and just
loaded Linux (ie no dual boot). The ThinkPad screen it is displaying is what
use to display when I had Windows on it.

<Description of the install, in prose, and any thoughts, comments
and ideas you had during the initial install.>

I'm closing the reports below.

That's installation-reports for Debian 7 with
- undefined errors
- problems which are likely to have been fixed in the meantime
- successful installation

they are no longer relevant or of any use for current releases:
