I tried your suggestion of refreshing screen after boot finished, to clear the 1.5mbps garbage, but it didn't help. If the cause is not something in the installer image, I wonder if it might lie in my serial adapter; it is supposed to support that speed, but I don't think I've ever tried it before. Anyway, the main problem I reported is fixed with the new daily builds. Thanks again!
