Under which circumstance does the bug shows itself?
As far as I understand /dev/fd seems to be completely missing. Haven't dug into it. For what its worth, it seems /proc/self/fd is still available. I did experiment with redirecting sed there instead before realizing it wasn't really necessary to retain wget's output.
