Hi,I just ran into this same bug. However, I suspect the problem is with busybox, which was updated yesterday, rather than initramfs-tools which has not been changed for months.
Patch notes for busybox 1.37.0-8 have this:
* initramfs-tools/conf-hooks.d/busybox: remove,
initramfs-tools don't use $BUSYBOXDIR anymore
* initramfs-tools/hooks/zz-busybox:
print applets added to initramfs in verbose mode
Could be related?
