Hi, I'm sorry to report an 'important' bug just one day before busybox migrates to forky. The Debian installer udeb 'live-installer.udeb' uses the 'chdir' command (instead of the more modern 'cd'), which is no longer provided by busybox 1.38. Therefore it is not possible to use a live image to install Debian. Found by openQA: https://openqa.debian.net/tests/536370#investigation The 'diff_sut_packages_to_last_good' points to busybox-udeb as a cause for the failing installation. I propose to block the migration of busybox to forky, while doing both kinds of fixes: 1) re-enable chdir in busybox 2) change from chdir to cd in live-installer.udeb With kind regards, Roland Clobus Co-maintainer of the Debian live images -- System Information: Debian Release: forky/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (500, 'testing-debug'), (50, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 7.0.10+deb14-amd64 (SMP w/8 CPU threads; PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=en_GB:en Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled Versions of packages busybox depends on: ii libc6 2.42-16 busybox recommends no packages. busybox suggests no packages. -- no debconf information
