Dear David: Sorry about the delay in replying. I was a bit sick this week. In the end, I configured the network on my laptop manually at the console using the original bf2.4 boot floppies and installed Woody from the network (before I got your message), so now I cannot test your boot floppies on my already-configured laptop :-( However, the problem was definitely a bug (albeit an easily circumvenable one) and other users will likely run into the same problem. I'm sorry I can't be the one to test it but I'm appreciative nonetheless.

Hi, > Hi. I'm trying to install Woody from the network on my laptop using . . . > /var/log/messages contains after attempting to bring up eth0 . . . I just built new images (untested) that I believe fix this problem and placed them on : http://people.debian.org/~dwhedon/boot-floppies/3.0.24-pre/ The problem appears to only appear for people doing static (non-dhcp) network configuration with pcmcia adapters. Can you please test the fix? If you report that the problem is fixed I will commit the change and close Bug#156015 (the change I made is just what is proposed in the bug report, FYI.)
