Hard disk support in v2.2.7

Hello,   I have an 8.6Gb hard disk and my BIOS suports large disks, but my version of Debian can only see 2Gb. I have installed Windows 2000 by itself and it is able to use the entire 8.6Gb disk space; I then installed QNX 6.1 by itself as a test,  and it was also able to use the entire disk space. Is there an update to make Debian work with large disks?   Carlos Ross
