all commands should log the errors to tty3 (eg syslog), maybe the best
way is to print a simple error message and point the user to this
screen.
I think it isn't a good idea for the most commands to display the error
message direct, because this can be a very very long, which file many
screen on the monitor.
But di-utils-mkfs shouldn't display partitions/devices which are already
mounted (either via main-menu or shell).
That's the real problem here :)
