Package: modconf Version: 0.2.44 Severity: normal The information text in /usr/share/modconf/descr.gz for the 3c59x module (3com NICs) seems to be incorrect. It says that providing the option "12" (as a sum of 8 (=full-duplex) and 4 (100base-TX)) makes the NIC run 100 Mbps and full-duplex. That didn't work at least for the 3com 905B and 3com 905C PCI cards. I assume this information is either a typo or outdated.
According to http://www-didc.lbl.gov/TCP-tuning/duplex.htm and http://www.scyld.com/network/vortex.html the correct option for setting the full-duplex bit is not 8 but 0x200. So to get 100/full working you need to specify "options=0x204". Can be quite annyoing to transfer 55 Bytes/second instead of 9 MB/second. :) Christoph -- System Information Debian Release: 3.0 Architecture: i386 Kernel: Linux tuxbox 2.4.20 #4 SMP Mon May 19 12:42:57 CEST 2003 i686 unknown unknown GNU/Linux Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=de_DE Versions of packages modconf depends on: ii modutils 2.4.15-1 Linux module utilities. ii whiptail 0.50.17-9.6 Displays user-friendly dialog boxe ii whiptail [whiptail-provider] 0.50.17-9.6 Displays user-friendly dialog boxe -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
