reassign 210612 hw-detect thanks cdrom-detect calls hw-detect to load the kernel modules. If this fails, I would assume it is a bug with the kernel module, not with the script trying to load the module, but it is definitely not a bug in the script calling the script (ie cdrom-detect), so I am reassigning it to hw-detect.
