Package: installation-reports Version: beta1 / 20031113 INSTALL REPORT
Debian-installer-version: 20031113, http://http.us.debian.org/debian/dists/unstable/main/installer-i386/20031113/images/ image> uname -a: N/A Date: November 18 2003, 21:00 Method: Floppy Machine: IBM Thinkpad 365XD Processor: Pentium 133 (non-MMX) Memory: 40MB Root Device: IDE Root Size/partition table: 1GB Output of lspci: N/A Base System Installation Checklist: Initial boot worked: [O] Configure network HW: [E] Config network: [O] Detect CD: [E] Load installer modules: [O] Detect hard drives: [ ] Partition hard drives: [ ] Create file systems: [ ] Mount partitions: [ ] Install base system: [ ] Install boot loader: [ ] Reboot: [ ] [O] = OK, [E] = Error (please elaborate below), [ ] = didn't try it Comments/Problems: Booted O.K, however installed did not detect the PCMCIA network card properly (3COM 3CCFE574BT, uses 3c589_cs). Came up with a list of modules instead, picked 3c589_cs, installer complains that card cannot be detected, however manages to continue anyway and card magically works. Installer lets me select distribution, mirror, then proceeds to download components and then gets into a loop where it cannot detect a CDROM (machine does not have a CDROM, Doh.) and so keeps coming up with a "Do you want to configure your CDROM manually" screen. I can get past this by saying no at some point and select each step manually from the menu (tried partitioning, mounting fs) but after completing each step the installer tried to "detect hardware" again and again got me into the loop about not being able to detect a CDROM. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
