This mail is aimed at giving a detailed overview of the translation
status for the debian-installer a few(?) days before beta-2 is released.
Yesterday evening (UTC), we climbed up to 10 languages with 100%
translation in debian-installer.
As delo-installer (boot loader for mipsel) was released soon after,
these values dropped down a bit. But climbed up again very quickly today.
GENERAL OVERVIEW

-Debian-installer WILL be 100% complete for 12 languages, that's
pretty sure. Those are:
Hungarian
French
Dutch
Japanese
Greek
German
Bulgarian
Brazilian portuguese
Norwegian Bokmal
Danish
Polish
Czech
-Effort is needed for the following languages. They have strong i18n
teams so you may do it, guys!
Spanish
Italian
-The following may reach 100% but the effort mostly lies on a single
translator
Lithuanian
-The following have less chances to reach 100% as they are less
advanced and also depend on a unique translator
(I wish you prove me wrong)
Slovenian
Finnish
Swedish
Russian
Norwegian Nynorsk
Bielorussian
Slovak
Catalan
Turkish
Korean
Gaelic
-Special case for Portuguese (non brazilian) which started very late
but seems to have a quite strong team behind
-Special case for Arabic : needed BIDI implementation which is on its
way. Seems to have at least one motivated translator.
-"en" is special : some file are "translated" to english for special
purposes. Of course, 100% will never be reached there
-The following seem more or less abandoned or with nearly no chance
to complete (no offense intended)

Below is a detailed status of translations as of 12:36UTC.
This status does not only shows the percentages of translated strings,
but also gives the result obtained by merging all PO files together.
First statistics is for the general merged file (659 strings)
Second statistic is for the combined number of strings (793 strings)
This merge shows where minor inconsistencies lie when an identical
string exists in several packages. This is the meaning of the "All
debian-installer PO files merged together:" line on Denis Barbier's
ages at http://people.debian.org/~barbier/d-i/l10n/.
I deeply checked those inconsistencies for languages currently at 100%
and 99%
Responsibles for languages which reached 100% may check these
inconsistencies and try to resolve them.
