Hi.
I'm trying to install debian from an official CD and run into a brick
wall during the installation procedure during fdisk. I've partitioned
my disk previously using Partition Magic v7.0 from PowerQuest which
runs on Windows ME. That utility allows me to set up my linux ext2
and swap partitions and initialize the file system there.
The disk is large, 40 Megs with an existing 28 Meg (VFAT/DOS system)
partition first followed by a linux partition and then a linux-swap
partition (and then another VFAT partition)
But when I boot the Debian CD and it goes into the installation
procedure, FDISK sees the disk as a single 40 Meg partition. I quit
at that point since doing anything else seems suicidal. I don't want
to lose all the data in the first partition.
What should I do? Is there a way to run the linux install without
running fdisk, since I believe I've done everything I need already?

BTW, I believe my BIOS is new enough to support large partitions and
booting past the short cylindar limit. Symantec reports it as
"American Megatrends 02/20/01".
