Several recent discussions happened about languagechooser:
-no natural sorting of proposed languages -bad mix of language/country choice which makes the language list quite strange (four french entries at the top, five english entries and so on) >From these discussions, I've built a prospective languagechooser package, based on today's CVS. In this package, I've removed the multiple country choice for each language....so each language has only one entry. Entries are sorted alphabetically, regarding to the 2-letter ISO codes for the given languages Only languages with a significant amount of translation in debian-installer are kept. I kept Arabic, Turkish, however as the respective language teams gave some news about some progress. Other are commented but not lost. At this time, when choosing a language, a default "country" is also chosen. For sure, that not ideal for, say, french-speaking people from Belgium or Canada as they will have France as default country. This situation is supposed to be temporary, while a new package named "countrychooser" is developed (Steve Langasek proposed to work on it, I'll help as mush as possibe). This countrychooser package will allow to choose a country, which could then be used for locale setting, keyboard setting (but kbd-chooser will run anyway) and even mirror country. All this still needs discussion anyway. As this is mostly prospective, I didn't commit anything. The new languagechooser package is available at: http://www.perrier.eu.org/debian/packages/languagechooser.tar.gz http://www.perrier.eu.org/debian/packages/languagechooser_1.09_all.udeb Please test and comment.... Petter suggested me to file a BR against languagechooser with my proposed patch. I'll do this also as this will help in a possible future switch. -- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
