I'd like to just say that I have also experienced this bug. I am trying to install on a Compaq ProLiant 1600R, and it has a SmartArray 221 controller.
All the hardware seems to be correctly detected, and all goes well up to the "Configure and Mount Partitions" step. I just keep getting kicked back to that step, which doesn't seem to do anything. I tried manually mounting /dev/ida/disc0/part1 on /target, but then I am stuck at "Install base system.
