Comments/Problems:

The partition *types* after the partitioning step had the *old* values,
even a after a reboot!? Previously, I had 20G NTFS and 20G unpartitioned,
now I configured 2G Linux swap and 38G Linux. In cfdisk, this is shown
correctly, but the installer UI offers me still NTFS and unpartitioned as
labels for the two now existing partitions...

The base system configuration complained about Invalid hostname "hein1"
!?

Choosing apt method ftp and selecting Canada/sunsite.ualberta.ca always
returned me to the apt method dialog.
