debian-installer beta 2 seems to be confounded by Compaq SmartArray cards. Specifically, in the "Configure and mount partitions" step, there are options 'N', 'O', 'P' (usually repeated multiple times), and some or all of the partitions on the logical drive. Selecting any of these options results in a quiet return to the main menu. LVM volumes will show up on this list and behave just fine.
