Good day: Thanks for all of the help. I recommend that, if the boot loader for LILO or GRUB fails, that the user's response (which partition to install the boot loader on) be erased.
Now, if an invalid partition is entered and you select <go back> and then attempt to repeat installing the boot loader, there is no prompt for the partition and the same error repeats over and over. If the user were prompted every time for the partition, this loop would not occur. In a normal installation, this step is only done once, so not automatically filling in the partition for this step seems to make sense.
