Package: installation-reports Debian-installer-version: beta 3 with base from http://gluck.debian.org/cdimage/testing/sarge_d-i/i386/beta3/sarge-i386-netinst.iso uname -a: Linux (none) 2.4.25-1-386 #1 Tue Feb 24 08:11:13 EST 2004 i686 unknown (from shell in installer) Date: March 23, 2004 Method: Boot from CD-Rom
Machine: N/A Processor: N/A Memory: N/A Root Device: N/A Root Size/partition table: N/A Output of lspci: N/A Base System Installation Checklist: Initial boot worked: [O] Configure network HW: [O] Config network: [E] Detect CD: [ ] Load installer modules: [ ] Detect hard drives: [ ] Partition hard drives: [ ] Create file systems: [ ] Mount partitions: [ ] Install base system: [ ] Install boot loader: [ ] Reboot: [ ] [O] = OK, [E] = Error (please elaborate below), [ ] = didn't try it Comments/Problems: I noticed the the installer asks for a hostname only after it attempts to get a DHCP lease. Some ISP (@Home is (in)famous for it in the Netherlands) require a specific hostname in the DHCP request in order for a lease to be granted. Suggestion: First ask for a hostname and then request a DHCP lease (using the supplied hostname) Sincerly, Laurens Blankers
