I must admit ignorance about that "newworld" and "oldworld" means in this context. Tried googling in several different ways but didn't get any wiser.

The comment about "pre-9.0.4 only" is wrong. I can personally vouch that BootX and miboot both work fine with MacOS 9.2.2, the latest (and last) MacOS before Apple switched to MacOS-X. It is correct that yaboot will not work on OldWorld machines. AFAIK, there is very little support for NuBus machines at all.
