I have a system with a SCSI cd writer and an IDE DVD-ROM drive
When it runs (during boot from rcS.d) it loads the ide-scsi module. This=
is=20
incorrect as the IDE device is a ROM drive.
My understanding is that ide-scsi should be loaded to enable cdrecord to =
work=20
- but not really for any other reason (discussion on the lkml indicates t=
hat=20
it is being removed from 2.5 with a slight change being made to cdrecord)
The problem I have is that when it is loaded mplayer fails to play by dvd=
s. =20
If I manually remove ide-scsi then mplayer works fine, and so does the re=
st=20
of my system.

I think this bug report can be closed. The original problem was caused
because the user tried to access the CD drive as /dev/hdd although
ide-scsi was loaded. The drive has to be accessed as a SCSI device in
this case.
Please feel free to comment/reopen the bug if you disagree.
