Even when it does, there's still a bug with LVM on root; see 249641: initrd-tools: does not activate volume groups (LVM2).
A patch was posted May 20 that's reported to fix this problem, and I didn't have any issues with LVM (LVM2) not being started by the initrd scripts (May 26 netinst iso).
