Comments/Problems:
Seems that when creating a RAID system, mdadm is not install prior to the kernel-image (2.6.6). Thus the kernel-image setup fails with an errormessage stating that raidtools2 should be installed. Installing mdadm and then trying to restart the base-system install fails - tracking point of failure is impossible, since the error message doesn't state where the error occured (and no hints in the logs).
