Comments/Problems:
Firstly, after the reboot the notebook hang at looking at the second PCMCIA. There isn't any, so it couldn't find it.
It is most unfortunate that the only way out was a complete re-install with the pcmcia off. Half an hour lost.
Also, I took the opportunity to add the net-cfg option to not use dhcp.
This is almost deadly: it will never ask for the IP-address, did not ask for the kernel version to install (contrary to my first effort), and will come back after the reboot with DHCP.
