Package: installation-reports Debian-installer-version: sarge powerpc tcl.1 9 June 2004 uname -a: Linux Homer 2.4.25-powerpc #1 mer avr 14 15:38:38 CEST 2004 ppc GNU/Linux
Date: 18 July 2004 circa 5pm BST Method: Installed BootX 1.2.2 from http://penguinppc.org/projects/bootx/ copied initrd.gz and vmlinuz from d-i tc1 CD to "Linux Kernels" in the MacOS System Folder Configured Bootx to boot from the RamDisk (initrd.gz in the System Folder) and hey presto the sarge installer appeared ;) (I tried the 2.6.7 kernel but the G3 doesn't have USB - kernel panic) Proxied=No Machine: PowerMac G3 Beige (old world) Processor: 266MHz Processor Memory: 96Mb Root Device: IDE: ATA Disk QUANTUM FIREBALL SE4.3A 4Gb Root Size/partition table: # type name length base ( # size ) system /dev/hda1 Apple_partition_map Apple 63 @ 1 ( 31.5k) Partition map /dev/hda2 Apple_Driver_ATA Macintosh 54 @ 64 ( 27.0k) Unknown /dev/hda3 Apple_Driver_ATA Macintosh 74 @ 118 ( 37.0k) Unknown /dev/hda4 Apple_Patches Patch Partition 512 @ 192 (256.0k) Unknown /dev/hda5 Apple_HFS untitled 614400 @ 704 (300.0M) HFS /dev/hda6 Apple_UNIX_SVR2 / 4492188 @ 615104 ( 2.1G) Linux native /dev/hda7 Apple_UNIX_SVR2 /var 781251 @ 5107292 (381.5M) Linux native /dev/hda8 Apple_UNIX_SVR2 swap 336914 @ 8081902 (164.5M) Linux swap /dev/hda9 Apple_UNIX_SVR2 /home 2193359 @ 5888543 ( 1.0G) Linux native Output of lspci: 0000:00:00.0 Host bridge: Motorola MPC106 [Grackle] (rev 40) 0000:00:10.0 Class ff00: Apple Computer Inc. I'm having a problem getting better resolution than 800X600 - I'd prefer 1024X768 I need to add some memory given that I'm trying to run kde and OOo ;) I will probably put up a Beige G3 howto page somewhere but would be happy to contribute to the installation manual, if required. So thanks again to all you developers and maintainers for your excellent work! It is the first time I've had Debian on this G3 ;) Regards Clive -- http://www.clivemenzies.co.uk strategies for business -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
