Ethernet card was recognized, but not functional. Although it was possible to configure the interface, it could not communicate with the outside network and the link light on the hub did not come on. It is a DEC DE-500 card using the DC21143 chipset, and the installer chose the tulip driver. The tulip driver has been broken with these cards for some time; it is apparently a known kernel problem, but not much work has been done to fix it because these cards are also supported with the de4x5 driver, which works fine for me. Booting again with debconf/priority=low, and loading de4x5 (and not loading tulip) manually, network was functional and install proceeded normally. de4x5 should probably be the default choice for 2114x cards (as opposed to clones) until tulip is known to be fixed. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
