Base System Installation Checklist: [O] = OK, [E] = Error (please elaborate below), [ ] = didn't try it
Initial boot worked: [O] Configure network HW: [O] Config network: [O] Detect CD: [O] Load installer modules: [O] Detect hard drives: [O] Partition hard drives: [O] Create file systems: [O] Mount partitions: [O] Install base system: [O] Install boot loader: [O] Reboot: [E]
Comments/Problems:
1/ reboot failed exactly in the same way as described here: http://lists.debian.org/debian-boot/2004/08/msg01897.html
resolution with the rmmod i810-tco worked very well though
2/ compared to lsmod and lspci dumps from an earlier try with knoppix lead me to think that quite some hardware has not been detected yet, need to investigate more, I want to get into building the 2.6 kernel anyways.
3/ none of the other boot options worked though for me
3a/ 'linux26' or 'expert26' will not detect the cd (leaving me clueless)
3b/ 'expert' to select kernel 2.6 image will reboot to kernel panic: Attempted to kill init! mentioning above that the /dev/console could not be found.
<Description of the install, in prose, and any thoughts, comments
and ideas you had during the initial install.>Install logs and other status info is available in /var/log/debian-installer/.
