Manually setup boot loader, as I have non-standard boot order. (Grub Install was not happy, said "This is a fatal error", which I just skipped by) Three (3) Actual Issues: 1) System seemed to 'freeze' at 69% for what seemed 5 minutes when installing base packages. Console 3 showed it was installing exim4-config and getting 'hostname lookup failure' 2) Install again froze at 95%, exim4-daemon-light (4.34.4) 'Starting MTA' I think it was stuck in the preconfiguring packages stage. I would suggest that the user gets some feedback saying "Still working, don't panic!" so they don't bail out of the installation. I wouldn't normally have been so patient myself. 3) After the first reboot, the console console vga mode was wrong. The first (leftmost) character was not displayed on the screen. It was shifted over too far to the left. Sorry, I don't know how to tell what the vga-mode was. I went thru the install 2x, and got the same behaviour each time. Samsung SyncMaster 950p 19" monitor, using the stock d-i 2.4 kernel. ATI Radeon video card. After I finished the install, I rebooted again to see if the problem would persist, which it didn't, the vga mode was just fine. One other concern, I choose "Manual" for package selection. I think it brought up aptitude which I find very intimidating! (I'm still working on the transition from dselect to aptitude) It threw a lot of warning messages about packages being held. I didn't know what to do, so I clicked 'g' and it updated a half dozen packages and returned to installation process ok. I wouldn't be surprised if a new user panicked though. Perhaps add a "Workstation" category? Also add a comment saying you can run 'aptitude' later, to add packages. Otherwise, the install was pretty slick!
