I can not test it but I don't see why the patch closes the bug. It seams to me that this patch will make partman to use "efi" instead of "EFI boot partition (FAT16)" but there still will be two menu items. partman-efi provides both method and file system and that is why there are two menu items. It should provide either only method or only file system. I think it should provide only method and not file system.
