Version: 20040204
Severity: normal

When you select Choose a mirror from the mainmenu of the installation,
you are given the option to choose between FTP and HTTP. But when you
get this screen for the first time (at the start of a new installation),
you are automatically forwarded to the HTTP servers, with US as the
default option.

I don't know if this is a 'feature', but because my no1. mirror is a FTP
server, it would be great to have this option immediatly.

I can't remember that I had the option to go back at that time, to
re-select HTTP or FTP. But maybe I'm missing something.

Default installs with high debconf priority are mostly meant for the
most common cases. In all these cases, we should try to avoid
bothering users with potentially too technical questions when it may
be avoided.

So, having HTTP as a default for mirror type at high priority and
leaving the choice for other type of installations seems a good
compromise to me.

Hence closing this bug report. Users needing to use a special mirror
should use medium priority installs or preseeding.
