I downloaded the file sarge-i386-netinst.iso 20040930 corresponding to pre-rc2 and tested it. All previous mentioned problems disapeard! Good job!
I have found a new problem. After the reboot, in the apt-configuration, It did not find the cdrom drive. I fixed the problem creating the file /media/cdrom0 and it worked ok.
/etc/fstab mounts /dev/hdc into /media/cdrom0 and that file was not in /media. The only files in /media/ where floppy, cdrom and floppy0. cdrom points to cdrom0 but cdrom0 does not exist, so creating it manually works.
