Hi, As asked in your mail, I tried several times to do an install using net install iso (build 20040930), on the following hardware :
Debian-installer-version: sarge sparc netinst 20040930 uname -a: N/A Date: 20041017 Method: Netinstall NATed but non proxied Machine: Sun SparcStation 5 Processor: Fujitsu TurboSparc MB86907 Memory: 128 MB Root Device: 2GB SCSI disk Root Size/partition table: N/A Output of lspci: N/A Base System Installation Checklist: Initial boot worked: [E] Configure network HW: [ ] Config network: [ ] Detect CD: [ ] Load installer modules: [ ] Detect hard drives: [ ] Partition hard drives: [ ] Create file systems: [ ] Mount partitions: [ ] Install base system: [ ] Install boot loader: [ ] Reboot: [ ] [O] = OK, [E] = Error (please elaborate below), [ ] = didn't try it Comments/Problems: SILO boot ok, kernel started to boot then get stuck after the following lines : VFS: Mounted root (ext2 filesystem). Trying to move old root to /initrd ... okay Mounted devfs on /dev Freeing unused kernel memory: 144k freed Setting up filesystem, please wait ... echo[8]: Unimplemented SPARC system call 188 uname[10]: Unimplemented SPARC system call 188 grep[11]: Unimplemented SPARC system call 188 init[9]: Unimplemented SPARC system call 188 [[12]]: Unimplemented SPARC system call 188 mount[13]: Unimplemented SPARC system call 188 Starting system log daemon: syslogd, klogd. (process:164): INFO: kbd-mode: setting console mode to Unicode (UTF-8) I wasn't able to go any further. I've discovered that the lines "Unimplemented SPARC system call 188" where also present on a working system, so I guess this is a "normal error" (shall I fill a bug report? if yes, which package? kernel-image?). I was able to install that system using sparc net install 20040731, even if I then had errors because the sunqe module was behaving badly with the sun qfe card installed on the system. I can file an install report for that one if it's of any use for you and can conduct some more tests for you on that system. Sincerely yours, -- Gildas LE NADAN <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
