Hello, i tried to install debian with the debian-installer rc2, 07-10-2004 and 09-10-2004. (I hope i can try with rc1 or so tomorrow.)
I had to install with the 2.6 kernel, because the 3w-9xxx is not in the 2.4. The Controller (3ware 9500S-8) is detected and the module is loaded fine. I can make partitions and all, the installation goes through without problems, the installer will boot into the new system. When it boots the ramdisk is loaded and now only some things are loaded, then it will make pivot_root and the error attempt to kill init occurs. I think the problem is, that in the loadmodules of the ramdisk there are no entrys about the 3w-9xxx module oder the ethernet module. Here the contents of the file: modprobe -k vesafb > /dev/null 2>&1 modprobe -k fbcon 2> /dev/null modprobe -k unix 2> /dev/null modprobe -k sd_mod I thought the module is not included in the ramdisk, but all modules are availible. I hope i provided enough helpful information, if not let me know. Let me also know if I could describe things better. I don't know if my problem legitimates a bugreport.
