A couple of pages of text rolls by that seems to be the boot script and that completes. 
Then what seems like what should be a graphic interface come up. But it is 
"black". Maybe black isn't as right as no image. The lcd lamp is on. The X 
interface would be the GUI right? I can tell the computer doesn't shut down. It sounds 
like the drive(s) are still working- not much activity though. Like it's waiting for 
input from me. I've tried 5 different distro's and they all behave the same way. I'm 
downloading YellowDog right now in fact.
