But when it would be a problem caused by the grub-installer, this would not happen when i use the lilo as boot method ... although also then the boot process just hangs a fraction of a second after the kernel loads. This 'problem' i already had with the net-install image from october-2007 and i posted some of this on the debian-user mailing-list. Although i can not find that thread anymore in the list archives on lists.debian.org. I can find that thread on groups.google.com started on 9 october with the name "debian kernel bugs / or is it grub?" http://groups.google.com/group/linux.debian.user/browse_thread/thread/cd5ad2d532ea6af6/369a5c164a21b9ed?hl=en&lnk=st&q=#369a5c164a21b9ed > > i can just guess though. > > You could boot debian-installer in rescue mode, > to get the logfiles out of the installed system. > (your installation went fine, the logfiles are written to disk) I am not sure which logfiles. I have several logfiles in /var/log/installer/ i tried this afternoon again with a fresh testing net install cd from 2008-01-04 and it still has the same problem. Installation went ok, but with the part of to install grub i went back and choose to install lilo. Again the kernel hangs with the message Linux......................................................................... ................................................................................................
