Booting with the option acpi=off gets me further into the installation, but I have hardware problems down the line so I can't finish the installation. (Seems to be a problem with overheating). I searched the internet and found that someone had a similar problem with a compaq armada, and this person had to build the kernel with a 3rd-party patch. http://www.linux-on-laptops.com/hosted/armada-1700-debian/ Would I have to do something like that to get this to work?
