A patch was suggested over a year ago but nobody tested it yet with ZFS (which is what was usually triggering the issue, as it is memory-hungry). http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=kern/155411#reply4 It got reopened today; is that just coincidence? This is probably an issue for 8.2/8.3 kernels too; it is thought that 8.1 was unaffected.
