Package: hylafax-server
Version: 1:4.2.0-16
Severity: wishlist

This reports a number of minor issues with the notice in the
NEWS.Debian file for 1:4.2.0-16 about working around a bug for cover
pages.

1. A fuller description of how to use the example would be useful.
Something like
  * install retainfaxcover.sh in /usr/local/bin and make it
executable.
  * In /etc/hylafax/config, add the line
    SendFaxCmd /usr/local/bin/retainfaxcover.sh
  * /etc/init.d/hylafax force-reload
I want to emphasize I have not tested the preceding; it's just my best
guess based on the NEWS and the associated upstream bug.

Even one of the Hylafax developers apparently had some trouble
figuring out which file to modify, and the existence of the SendFaxCmd
option seems somewhat hidden (I found it in hylafax-config(5), but the
html documentation didn't have it anywhere I looked). So it would
help to be explicit, even if others can presumably go through the same
sequence. Of course, the instructions should be prefaced with a "may
not work for your particular system" warning for people who've
customized heavily.

2. I also think a fuller description of the nature and severity of the
bug would be helpful. It sounds as if it affects whether cover pages
go out from the description in NEWS.Debian. But the upstream bugs
sound as if the only problem is what comes back with fax failure
notices; to my mind this is a much less significant problem. It might
also be worth noting that upstream will fix this eventually, if that's
true.

3. The second sentence of the NEWS.Debian announcement begins
" Is hould "; I think you mean "It should".

As I said, these are all pretty minor, and I won't be offended if you
just close this bug. I thought I'd pass on the suggestions while they
were fresh in my mind, in case they are useful.
