I have a lpd-printer adaptor on my local network. This uses tcp-ports
below 1024! (Yes I know, it should not work like that...)

The rule for calling the STATE chain uses --dport 1024:65365. This
rule blocks the access to the lpd server. I do understand the original
reason for the rule but as seen it breaks some non fixable devices.

I don't like the idea to open all port from this ip-address, which is
do-able in the current version. A better solution would be to be able
to punch only one port with its ip-address through the firewall. (Or
remove the --dport 1024:65535 constrain.)
