Subject: mozilla-browser: SVG images appear in weird interlaced greyscale and
in wrong places

Package: mozilla-browser
Version: 2:0.9.7-1
Severity: normal
http://www.croczilla.com/svg/ has a whole bunch of SVG samples. It also has
screenshots of mozilla rendering these samples, so I'm assuming that it's
supposed to be able to do so. I also noted in the changelog that the Debian
package turns on MOZ_INTERNAL_LIBART_LGPL which is only useful in supporting
SVG, from which I deduce that Debian builds have SVG turned on. This is further
confirmed by the fact that visiting the SVG samples on the above page does
result in shapes that bear some resemblance to the screenshots.
However, the results are certainly not as they should be. All the images appear
in greyscale - or rather, in what appears to be a bizarre interleaved form of
greyscale in which a yellow pixel is followed by a cyan pixel and then a magenta
pixel, or something. The image appears greyscale to the naked eye, but using the
dynamic samples which move around, there are often cyan, magenta or yellow
fringes left behind.
Additionally, the dynamic samples appear to respond to hovering in entirely the
wrong places, and then redraw in places different from their initial positions
if they redraw for a hover. Similar behaviors occur in all the dynamic samples,
suggesting that something is wrong with the coordinates at which things are
being drawn. The non-dynamic samples seem to be more-or-less fine except for
the greyscaling issue.
Interestingly, another Debian user on one of Mozilla's IRC channels reported
the same packaged debian version (2:0.9.7-1) displaying the samples on this page
fine. If there are any details of my system that I can provide to help isolate
why I'm seeing a problem, I'll happily provide them.
Thanks!
