Package: aptitude
Version: 0.2.11.1-3
Severity: normal
I did
# aptitude install apt-file
I chose "e" to enter the full visual interface
I chose g
* note that the other things i had previously told aptitude i wanted
are not shown when i enter aptitude this way!
I was presented with a screen to enter a cdrom
I typed q to quit.
I typed y to confirm, like it asked, I also could use TAB to toggle
between Yes and No, then RET
I was ignored !! bug!
P.S. when this works, I.e.,
when one just types
# aptitude
[and one is not on a cdrom screen - bug: why not cannot quit here
too?]
you prompt with capital Yes, but only accept small y.
By the way, on another run:
Commands:
y: continue with the installation
n: abort and quit
d: toggle display of dependency information
v: toggle display of versions
Do you want to continue? [Y/n/e/d/v/action/?] v
Versions will be shown.
The following NEW packages will be installed:
apt-dpkg-ref [5]
0 packages upgraded, 1 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not
upgraded.
Need to get 0B/93.6kB of archives. After unpacking 152kB will be used.
Writing extended state information... Done
Media Change: Please insert the disc labeled 'Debian GNU/Linux SID
_Sid_ - fsn.hu unofficial i386 Binary-7 (20021010)' in the drive
'/cdrom/' and press enter
it says "toggle display of versions"
well, I expected version information... instead I am rushed into cdrom
insertion!
same thing with "d". i dont suppose one could toggle them both... no,
entering dv or vd only gets the first char read.
BTW when we are being asked for a cd here in command line mode, there
also is no taking no for an answer. the only way out is a violent ^C,
which the user hopes does/doesnt lose any info... but no way to
control that...
furthermore, the aptitude man page should clearly state the method to
non-interactively add items to the fetch list but not really install
them just yet.
apparently one must do my above sequences, not choosing "n" when
asked, but choosing y and then a final ^C.
you see i like to fill up my wish list, and at the end of the week get
them all installed with one cd flipping session, as my cd is a long
walk away for each change.

I believe that media selection should work just fine in current
aptitudes.
