Package: distcc
Version: 2.18.1-5
Severity: normal
I'm using KDE with French Canadian keyboard (ca_enhanced), which has the
funny characteristic of having the "é" symbol where "/" is usually found.
I just installed distcc, got the debconf "allowed client networks" and while
typing, mixed the two keyboards and entered a "é" instead of a "/" (willing
to enter "192.168.0.0/16")
From the moment I entered "é" (which wasn't displayed but I found it later
in /etc/default/distcc), I was no longer able to enter anything, nor to
backspace. Would looks exactly like a keyboard freeze if it wasn't for the
"enter" that worked.
From there, nothing to do through "usual" means. distccd fails to start
(obviously), any run of "dpkg-reconfigure distcc" restart with the same
"frozen" dialog. Two solutions: edit /etc/default/distcc by hand, or
extreme "dpkg -P distcc ; apt-get install distcc".
Setup: debian sarge/i386 up-to-date as of 2005-03-05, custom 2.6.11.2
kernel from kernel.org,
Reporting on distcc, but it may very well be anywhere from dpkg/debconf to
KDE.
Please get in touch with me if I can help.

Ok, closing the bug then.
