lastmp does not show up in the list of mpd-client packages suggested
by mpd. If you add a 'Provides: mpd-client' dependency to the package,
it will.
Note that mpdscribble (a 'competitor' to lastmp) does show up, but that
package didn't work for me. I accidentally stumbled into lastmp and it
works fine. Thank you for doing the Debian maintenance!
