Package: lvm-common
Version: 1.5.17
Severity: important

Hello,
I unmounted /scr/build and wanted to add a gigabyte using
thirtyto:~# e2fsadm -L+1G /dev/system_vg/build_lv

The file system check went fine, but then I got an error message (unfortuna=
tely I did not keep it).

Then I tried to run
thirtyto:~# ext2resize /dev/system_vg/build_lv
ext2resize v1.1.17 - 2001/03/18 for EXT2FS 0.5b
ext2resize: ext2_open: invalid superblock
ext2resize: can't open /dev/system_vg/build_lv

Ok, let's try the full resizing again, now I get:

thirtyto:~# e2fsadm -L+1G /dev/system_vg/build_lv
e2fsck 1.35 (28-Feb-2004)
Durchgang 1: Pr=FCfe Inodes, Blocks, und Gr=F6=DFen

d), 648769/770048 Bl=F6cke
New size (126 extents) matches existing size (126 extents)
lvextend: Add space to a logical volume

lvextend
        [-A|--autobackup y|n]
        [--alloc AllocationType]
        [-d|--debug]
        [-h|--help]
        [-i|--stripes Stripes [-I|--stripesize StripeSize]]
        {-l|--extents [+]LogicalExtentsNumber |
         -L|--size [+]LogicalVolumeSize[kKmMgGtT]}

        [--type VolumeType]
        [-v|--verbose]
        [--version]
        LogicalVolume[Path] [ PhysicalVolumePath... ]

It finally works with
thirtyto:~# resize2fs /dev/system_vg/build_lv
resize2fs 1.35 (28-Feb-2004)
Resizing the filesystem on /dev/system_vg/build_lv to 1032192 (4k) blocks.
Das Dateisystem auf /dev/system_vg/build_lv ist nun 1032192 Bl=F6cke gro=DF.

I am using lvm1 under 2.6

thirtyto:~# mount -a
kjournald starting. Commit interval 5 seconds
EXT3 FS on dm-5, internal journal
EXT3-fs: mounted filesystem with ordered data mode.
thirtyto:~# df -h /scr/build/
Dateisystem Gr=F6=DFe Benut Verf Ben% Eingeh=E4ngt auf
/dev/mapper/system_vg-build_lv
                      3,9G 2,5G 1,3G 66% /scr/build

(Btw. I tried using /dev/mapper/system_vg-build_lv as well, but this the to=
ols did not
like at all).

So maybe there is a bug in e2fsadm? Also the output (lvextend) is strange.=

If this bug report is too vague then close, if you need more info, please t=
ell me which.
