Package: xmms
Version: 1.2.9-1
Severity: normal

This version of xmms does not close .mp3 files when it has finished
playing them, either when the track is finished or when I fast-forward
to the next track. This can easily be verified by doing a

ls -l /proc/xmmsPID/fd

using the PID of any running xmms process, which shows 2 open file
handle to every .mp3 it has played since it was last started.

This behaviour eventually causes xmms to stop functioning with a
``cannot open /dev/dsp'' or similar error, which occurs because it has
too many files open already.

The xmms package has been removed from Debian testing, unstable and
experimental, so I am now closing the bugs that were still opened
against it.

For more information about this package's removal, read
http://bugs.debian.org/461309 . That bug might give the reasons why
this package was removed, and suggestions of possible replacements.

Don't hesitate to reply to this mail if you have any question.

Thank you for your contribution to Debian.
