Package: xmms
Version: 1.2.5-ximian.1
Severity: normal

When I quit xmms and re-start, the main window was touching the top or
left edges of the screen, its position is not restored properly.
Actually, this is because (in all cases), the position is incorrectly
recorded in .xmms/config.  For example:

- start xmms
- move window so it's touching top edge of screen
- close xmms
- examine this excerpt from .xmms/config:

[xmms]
snap_windows=TRUE
save_window_positions=TRUE
player_x=108
player_y=-2
show_wm_decorations=FALSE

It's worth noting that the default thickness of the border of twm
windows is two pixels.

Note that this may (or may not) be related to several other bugs with
xmms under twm:

- xmms forces me to place a tiny window on startup, but then closes it
  again, before forcing me to place it's main player window, which it
  then moves wherever the heck it likes (when it "restores
  position"). It shouldn't force the user to place any windows, if it
  knows where they're all going!

- In order to avoid having ugly title bars cluttering things up, I had
  to add the following to my .twmrc (though removing it does not solve
  the main bug reported above):

NoTitle
{
        "XMMS_Player"
        "XMMS_Playlist"
        "XMMS_Equalizer"
}

Right. I spent nearly six months emailling back and forth with the
xpostitplus maintainer trying to get this problem fixed in
xpostitplus; he kept suggesting that twm was the cause, but in the end
he was mistaken.

Good luck...

The xmms package has been removed from Debian testing, unstable and
experimental, so I am now closing the bugs that were still opened
against it.

For more information about this package's removal, read
http://bugs.debian.org/461309 . That bug might give the reasons why
this package was removed, and suggestions of possible replacements.

Don't hesitate to reply to this mail if you have any question.

Thank you for your contribution to Debian.
