Package: xmms
Version: 1.2.8-2
Severity: important

The situation is this: The user davh has xmms running on :0. The user
hall has sudo rights to execute /usr/bin/xmms as the user davh.

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo -u davh xmms -f
X11 connection rejected because of wrong authentication.
Gdk-ERROR **: X connection to localhost:11.0 broken (explicit kill or
server shutdown).
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$

It seems that xmms wants to open the display that user hall has, but
does not get the rights because it is running as davh. However, it is
even more interesting to know why it even bothers to try and open the
connection to begin with. All "-f" does is skip to the next number.

Even with xhost + on both user davh and user hall, there is no
difference, which makes no sense to me?

The xmms package has been removed from Debian testing, unstable and
experimental, so I am now closing the bugs that were still opened
against it.

For more information about this package's removal, read
http://bugs.debian.org/461309 . That bug might give the reasons why
this package was removed, and suggestions of possible replacements.

Don't hesitate to reply to this mail if you have any question.

Thank you for your contribution to Debian.
