Package: xviewg
Version: 3.2p1.4-22
Severity: important

Closing XView client windows using the window manager's close button
no longer works, clients simply continue running without any reaction to
the close request.

This seems to be caused by an ABI incompatibility in libX11. The same XView
library with the libX11 from etch instead of lenny/sid works fine. However,
this doesn't seem to be a bug in libX11, XView simply uses the libX11 API
in a strange way that just worked by chance so far.

The Ubuntu patch at
http://patches.ubuntu.com/x/xview/extracted/don_t_call_several_XAllocID_instances.diff
seems to fix the problem, even though it was meant to fix a crash which we
don't see (yet) in Debian.

 .
   * Use XAllocIDs() instead of XAllocID() similar to Ubuntu's
don_t_call_several_XAllocID_instances.diff to fix broken "window close"
button handling and for future libX11 compatibility. Closes: #492023
   * Upgraded to Standards-Version 3.8.0.0:
     - Made xviewg & xviewg-dev pre-depend on x11-common as required by
       policy 11.8.7
     - Support DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS
