When "hg ci" is run without the "-u" option it should take the contents of
/etc/mailname (if it exists) as the domain name part of the user address.
EG It should use [email protected] when I run it not [email protected].
Also it would be nice if an environment variable could be used for this so I
could set it in .bashrc and not have to worry about a -u option.

Hi,
As explain in the bug report, there are alternatives to setup correct
user names. If you think that they are not enough and you really want
mercurial to use /etc/mailname, reoppen this bug and/or forward it to
upstream.
I do not think it is a point important enough to warrant a patch only
in Debian, so I will not change this if upstream does not want to do it.
Regards,
Vincent
